I'm writing this entry because several people have contacted me on the subject and I figured it was high time I made this information public:

I DO NOT DO ANIMATIONS BY REQUEST.

Why, you ask?

I'm surprised if you really asked why. Since you've asked me about animations, you must know that I do animations, which means you must have at least glanced at the descriptions.

Let's look a couple descriptions of my animations right now...
www.deviantart.com/deviation/2… - "This thing took the better part of a month to make."
www.deviantart.com/deviation/2… - "I don't think I'm going to complete this, since this alone took me two days and it's getting harder and harder for me to finish large projects."

For those of you who don't get the hint, animations take a very long time to make. A full-color picture can take me hours to do, and even though the pictures in an animation aren't nearly as detailed, you need to draw a lot of pictures to make an animation.

How many pictures? Let's say you're doing an animation at 10 fps -- a relatively slow framerate that means that you see 10 frames flash by every second. At this rate, you would have to draw 600 pictures to create ONE MINUTE of animation.

I'm sorry, but I can't spend all of my free time drawing, and unless you're willing to pay me, I'm not going to spend several hundred hours creating an animation for you per your request. It requires a lot of time, talent, patience and dedication, and I'm not exactly overflowing with all of these traits.

You may think artists can do anything, but we can't magically secrete art and animations like normal people secrete sweat. We're only human, we have our limits, and we'd appreciate it if other people would acknowledge this as well.

I must say I've enjoyed your animations ever since I first stumpled upon the Squeaky toy one with sound. Yes, I would love to see more, but having dabbled briefly in it myself, I know how painstakingly slow it can be. So I commend you on putting your foot down. For me, each one of your animations is a treasue to be savored, even viewed again, but so are your still pictures as well. You do beautiful work.
