For as long as I could remember, the spot was there: a circular, brownish-orange mark just touching the pupil of my left eye. I didn't really notice it until I started school and the other kids started staring at me and asking why my eye looked funny. I didn't get teased that much, but every now and then there'd be that one boy or girl that pointed at me and said my eye was dirty. Eventually, I was able to fight back by telling anyone who tried to get under my skin that it was a beauty mark -- an extra-special one, too. That seemed to shut a lot of them up.
The teasing completely stopped around the time I started middle school, and during high school, a few people actually told me that they thought the spot was beautiful. One of my dates confessed that she had asked me out mainly because of it.
