Waiting in the Weave by Akril15 Waiting in the Weave by Akril15
Two characters from the classic LucasArts adventure game, Loom (Fleece Firmflanks and Rusty Nailbender), wondering if the two sequels originally planned for the game (The Forge and The Fold) that starred each of them in turn will ever be uncancelled.

I certainly wish the two sequels had been made. I was mistified by Loom, but utterly onfused at the same time. Maybe a couple of sequels would set things straight, and perhaps please a few diehard fans...

Oh well. Hope is the last thing to die.

I played the game again, a few days ago. It had been nearly... what... twenty years, perhaps? I don't know. It was a severe long time, that's for sure.

Playing it again I realized all the unfinished plot lines, and after a research I discovered the truth about the missing sequels. It's really sad, because the game was (and still is) beautiful and original in several ways.

Who knows? Maybe, one day, we will see the swans fly again...

I too wish a sequel could be made one of these days. There have been a few attempts at fan sequels over the years, though none of them have reached completion yet.

Very awesome. Very relevant! And they look very similar to on the game (without all the excessive pixellation)... Oh and moodyblues, nice simile... "like cloth..." hahaha

I never realized that Loom had any dead ends...but then, the first time I played it, I was jotting down every draft I came across, since they were the equivalent of inventory items -- never know when they'll come in handy. I suppose if you forget to write a crucial spell down, you do run into a dead end. Hmm.

And yes, Rusty's the one who got inadvertantly killed, then resurrected by Bobbin. His death was one one the times I was truly terrified whilst playing a game. Thank goodness it all turned out good.

And regarding a fan making a sequel...it seems that someone is already doing such a thing [link] . However, I can already tell that it just won't be the same as the two sequels that LucasArts originally planned, this one- [link] and and this one- [link] . Sigh...

Oh yeah, Rusty's death terrified me too. *shudder*

Loom was really a pretty scary game. I mean, you could tear people apart like cloth. :O_o:

Loom was a beautiful game, even with all its dead ends. I'm sure some fan will eventually take up the challenge of making a sequel.

Lovely picture! The swans are a nice touch - maybe Bobbin's one of them :D

Rusty's so cute; is he the guy who died in Bobbin's place?
