Orphan of the Quest

Description

The life of a hero certainly is no walk in the park. Stroll through the forest, and you get ambushed by not one, but two cheetaurs! No problem, you dispatch them with ease and sell their claws to the local healer for a fine sum.

But there’s always more than what meets the eye…

Maybe this was why I could never get into Quest for Glory, or any RPG, for that matter. I just didn’t like the concept of killing all these creatures, especially cheetaurs, which I think are beautiful, though somewhat oddly formed, animals (even though they don’t look like cheetahs at all. The individual defending the QfG orphan in the picture, Xandra, is half cheetah and half human, so she has a very good reason to defend the poor little guy.)

Eco-Geeks and RPGs, never the twain shall meet.

*narrows eyes* I'm not a big fan of this picture. Really, I'm not. You're saying everyone who plays Quest for Glory and engages in combat (in particular Fighters) is a bloodthirsty monster with no empathy, just because we kill the cheetaurs.

I notice something. You don't say this for the Saurus enemies, Purple or Rex. You don't say this for the Trolls. You don't say this for the Ogre guarding the cave. You don't say this for the Mantrays. You don't even say this for the Brigands, who are HUMAN, and they probably DO have comrades and families out there who'd miss them dearly (some of them anyway). But just because it's a beautiful creature, that means we MUST leave it alone! You know what happens when you try to run from these things? They will KILL you, whether you engage in battle willingly or not! Plus, you DO realize these creatures aren't real, right? If this were real life and Cheetaurs actually existed, I'd probably be on your side. But I'm not. It's a game, nothing more.

If they attack you, it's not murder, it's SELF DEFENCE! It's not like you can go actively hunting for hm, either. They find YOU, not the other way around.

Gloriana's a tough land. Beautiful, but tough. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. You HAVE to survive somehow! The cheetaurs, cubs or no, will show you NO mercy if they claw and snap at you. Also, being attacked by two cheetaurs at once is a death sentence. They hit hard, almost as bad as Trolls! I have not found a single time fighting them where I didn't get hurt badly and hope to God I wouldn't encounter another that night because they were deadly animals.

I will say one thing though, to not end this on a negative note. I LOVE the font and drawing of the cheetaur itself. I just really don't like the message that goes with it.
