Say what you will about the H2G2 film - it's got me doing fanart again (that's the way it seems to be with most fandoms - no matter how bad the new film/series/whatever is, it will have me doing artistic stuff in its name again).
It's a scene from The Restaurant at the End of the Universe when Arthur, Ford and Trillian are stranded on the Heart of Gold, and the latter and the former start playing Scrabble. I thought it was a sweet little scene, and call me simple, but I was brought up with the radio series, and it seemed to me that Arthur and Trillian belonged together...I mean, he's from Earth, she's from Earth...and not in the lovey-dovey way that the film portrayed it. Just Trillian "running the show" while Arthur trailed helplessly behind her...but then there was that whole business with the Hagunenon and...well, yeah.
I actually started to sketch this scene a couple of years ago but gave up. Just as well, it gave me time to hone my severely lacking sketching skills. And I am proud to say that except for the text, all the cropping, curves adjustment, and every digital aspect of this image was done by foot -- that is, I used the mouse with my right foot rather than my right hand. When your wrists are hurting and you don't want to aggravate them...you improvise.
I still don't understand what would inspire Arthur would decide to salvage a Scrabble set from his ruined home moments before his planet was destroyed...it's not the sort of thing you'd take on any trip, really...

The "teaching the caveman to play Scrabble" scene appeared in Chapter 33 of [i]The Restaurant at the End of the Universe[/i] as well as near the end of the original radio series.
The scene I drew appears in Chapter 8 of of the same book (shortly after the Nutrimatic amazingly manages to produce tea, hence the teacup beside Arthur), but it never appears in the radio series.
