Grim Fandango-End of the Dance by Akril15 Grim Fandango-End of the Dance by Akril15
I started working on this a week or so after finishing GF, then forgot about it until tonightÖand I finished it in a couple of hours.

Itís several of the main characters spending some quiet time together after the events of the game. Iím sure people whoíve played the game can understand whatís going on here, and as for those who donít, play Grim Fandango. Some people say that itís the best adventure game ever made, and Iím afraid I havenít played every adventure game in existence, so I canít say whether I agree with this claim or not, but it certainly is an interesting work of art.

UPDATE: I slipped in a little visual element that no one seems to have noticed yet. Has anyone spotted something familiar hovering over this little scene?

I actually felt sad when I finished the game. I'm going to miss Glottis... Poor Salvador. Interesting way to die though...

I thought for a minute that the smoke was actually that weird music sign thing at the start of the sheets; think it's called a treble or something. Suits the whole dance thing.

It is a serious game, it tells a serious, if bazaar, yet it is a very funny game as well. Also, the humour doesn't feel thrown in, like so many bad puns and cultural references, like seen in many of the Kings Quest games.
Also, the setting and story should feel incredibly weird, yet they don't. Everything feels integrated into what can be best described, as a world.
Like Eva and Glottis, we also need a breather after finishing this monumental game. It looks like Eva is still morning the final death of Salvidor. It is sweet how one of the little engineering demons is reaching up to comfort her. She looks like she needs it. Glottis looks like he is doing some contemplating as well, in that big orange head of his.

"Truely"? I've never heard of a game with that name. :)

Just kidding.

Very nice, the smoke effect looks familiar though. Was it one of the tatoo things on their hands?
Akril15 Featured By Owner Jan 17, 2006
Yes, it's the marking on the back of Manny's hands.

(Wow, two comments in one week, and this image is almost a year old! Wow...)

You were certainly on the right track...I hadn't really set this up as a contest, though.

Oh poor Eva... At least Glottis had his little pals, but what ever did happen to her? I actually think that she got a ticket for the #9 along with Manny and Meche, but I just that kinda guy.

You've REALLY captured the scene here. The added smoke effect looks good too.

I played Grim Fandango in the middle of 2004.. talk about joining in late, but better late than never. Interestingly it was absolutely smashing despite being from.. 1997 or 1998. I certainly think it is the best adventure game ever. Ode to it. Interesting thing to make fan-art out of. :) Looks a bit in-game when I think about it.

It's the best game in existence, full stop. Good work, man, although I'm not entirely sure who the one in the middle is! :S

That's the LSA agent who Salvador chopped in half in Year 4 (for a very, very good reason, mind), the one you later see in the casino, wearing a raincoat and riding a unicycle. I was going to draw more agents in the BG, but I decided this scene was crowded enough.

Ahhh, I know...he had an interesting way of making the casino fruit-machines work :D
