I understand. If you were brought up with another language, then I'd say that occasional mistakes like this are forgivable. But if you only know one language, then you should at least make an effort to use it correctly.
A lot of us Americans (including me) only know English, and sadly, most of us don't use it very well, especially online.
Yeah well, I think that's a problem in every language, the Dutch make a lot of mistakes too . Don't you think it's a pity Americans only know one language? In the Netherlands one learns 3 languages in any case: French, English and German, sometimes Spanish too. Of course native-Englishspeaking people have the big advantage that almost everyone in the world speaks a bit English, but I think that knowing some other languages makes you understand your own language better. Apart from that, for example French people just don't wánt to speak English, even though they can speak it. So in that case, being able to speak a little French comes in handy.
It is a bit sad that most of us only know one language. I took a Spanish class in high school, but I hardly remember anything from it, and I only know bits and pieces of other languages. There's actually an interesting quote on this subject:
"If you can speak three languages -- you're trilingual. If you can speak two languages -- you're bilingual. If you can speak only one language -- you're an American." --Anonymous
Haha I strongly support all the forms of nitpicking, grammar naziness and typing error correcting. I hate bad typing. (Okay, I admit I'm guilty of typos and incorrect grammar as well, because I don't always know how to say something correctly in a foreign language.)
